This policy is about the Moonlit website. The Moonlit app does not use browser cookies, but it stores some information on your phone, which we explain below so that everything is in one place.

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, do the same job. Some are essential for a site to work, others measure or advertise. Moonlit uses only the first kind.

What the website uses

Essential

These keep the site secure and let people with an account (such as writers and our team) sign in to the areas that need one. They are set by us and by our sign-in provider. They cannot be switched off without breaking sign-in, and they do not need consent.

Preferences

We may remember a choice you made, such as a theme, so you do not have to make it again on your next visit.

Analytics and advertising

The website does not set analytics or advertising cookies, and it does not track you across other sites. If that ever changes, we will ask for your consent first, give you a clear choice, and update this page before anything is set.

What the app stores on your phone

The app saves a few things locally so that it works properly:

• a sign-in session and a device identity, so you stay signed in and we can tell a genuine app from a fake one;
• your reading settings, notification choices and the genres you picked;
• stories you have downloaded to read offline, and your reading progress;
• a saved copy of Discover so the app opens quickly.

This information stays on your device and is removed when you sign out of your account or delete the app. It is not used to advertise to you. Teens and adults who watch rewarded ads may be shown ads by a third-party advertising service, which can use your phone’s advertising identifier; you can reset or limit it in your phone’s settings.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Doing so may sign you out of areas that need an account. To clear what the app stores, sign out, or delete the app.

Changes

We may update this page when we change how we use cookies. The version history is kept, and anything that needs your consent will ask for it first.
